McRae Bail Bonds Team

Alicia Loza and John McRae

How a jail bond works is as follows: First when a person is arrested and charged with a crime a judge will set a bail amount. This is the amount of money that the defendant must give to the court to be released as collateral or insurance that they will appear before the court for the trial. As long as the defendant does appear for court, upon completion of the court case the jail bond is dissolved and the bail money or collateral is returned to the person who posted it. A jail bondsman is allowed to keep a percentage of the cash fee as profit.

Not every state allows a jail bond company to be in business, but most do. Texas is one of those states that allows bail bond companies to post bail on behalf of the client and charge a fee. If the defendant does not appear for court, the court keeps the bail money and whoever posted it, even if it was a jail bond company, loses the money. This is the risk a bonding service takes and is calculated into the amount of their fee.

San Antonio TX Bonding Services

There many jail bond companies in the San Antonio area. But all bonding services are not created equal. The best way to choose a reputable agency is to go with the recommendation from people you trust who have used the services of a jail bondsman in the past. If you don’t know anyone who has, then you should check the Google reviews of all of the companies you are considering.

At McRae Bail Bonds we get a lot of our clients that heard about us from our previous clients and were recommended that they call us. We also get a lot of people who  check us out online and read all our Google reviews and then decide to give us a call. So you should always do your research so that you can be reasonably confident that you are working with a reputable company.
