Tips for Staying Safe & Sober During San Antonio’s Beer Festival

San Antonio Beer Festival

It’s October and San Antonio’s favorite festival is upon us. Here at McRae Bail Bonds, we pride ourselves on helping you get out of trouble, but we’d like to remind you of few ways you can avoid trouble and stay safe during the San Antonio Beer Festival.

Have a Designated Driver – After partying under the sunny Texas sky, you’ll want to get home safely. Before arriving at the San Antonio Beer Festival, decide who in your group will maintain a safe level of drinking and hand over your keys.

Call a Taxi – Just in case your designated driver decides to drink too much, have a backup plan and program a few local taxi companies into your phone. You can also download the Uber or Lyft app onto your phone before you leave. Remember, cabs and ride share companies will be busy so have multiple options ready on your phone.

Yellow Cab – (210) 222-2222

National Cab – (210) 588-9295

San Antonio Cabs – (210) 900-2151

Drink Plenty of Water – Drinking alcohol actually dehydrates you and combined with a hot Texas sun, the consequences of consuming too much alcohol can quickly lead to some serious health issues. If you are concerned that you may become dehydrated while consuming alcohol, look out for the following symptoms:

  • A dry, sticky mouth
  • Sleepiness or tiredness
  • Thirst
  • Decreased urination
  • Headache
  • Feeling dizzy or lightheaded

Get Some Shade –  Heat stroke can and will happen if you’re drinking irresponsibly – The risk of heat stroke is very high for persons imbibing in extreme heat. If you’re unfamiliar with heat stroke, which is also known as “sunstroke”, here are the facts:

  1. Heat stroke is a potentially fatal medical emergency that can strike a person who’s exposed to extreme heat.
  2. Internal organs and the human brain are heavily impacted by heat stroke, and irreparable damage is highly likely for those that consume alcohol in the heat
  3. Cramping, fainting and exhaustion are all symptoms of heat stroke. If you suffer from any one of these symptoms during the beer festival, call for emergency assistance immediately.

If for any reason you become inebriated and start a fight or find yourself behind bars for any reason, another handy number to have in your mobile phone is for McRae Bail Bonds. Our number is (210) 463-5561 and we answer the phone 24 hours a day. It’s a good idea to have your entire group program our number into their phones just in case!

Have fun at the San Antonio Beer Festival – stay safe and sober!
